This book has been acknowledged by both the trade and collectors as the most complete and accurate on the subject of campaign medals. It describes in fullest detail all campaign awards given throughout the world between 1588 and 1961. Every bar has been dealt with separately. Every medal is illustrated in full size and thie is a complete coloured ribbon chart. The historical reason for each award, except in a few cases, is given together with the names of all the regiments that gained it. In the case of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines the name of every ship present during the action, or from which landing parties were drawn, is named, as are the Squadrons of the Royal Air Force. Both the reader will find much detail of an historical nature not previously included in such a book and will find it invaluable for it gives, in the appropriate places, advice on the detection of forgeries and many medals that the author considers should be left severely alone are specifically mentioned.
